SUPRAM President, dr Marta Sjenicic, participated in the panel discussion “How to reach a better system of patients’ rights protection?”, in the Belgrade Media Centre. This panel was the prolongation of discussion on the proposed draft of the Law on patients’ rights protection. Panellists were: prim. dr Perisa Simonovic, State secretary in the Ministry of Health, Radmila Ivanek, special counsellor of the Minister of Health, Gordana Stavanovic, Assistant of the Secretary General of the Expert service of the Ombudsman, and Marina Mijatovic, director of NGO Legal Scanner. SUPRAM has already sent the proposal for changes of the draft Law on Patients’ rights protection in written. However, during this discussion, SUPRAM expressed general remarks to the mentioned draft: rights prescribed by the law have to be more in accordance with the Serbian reality; for the realisation of the prescribed rights the budget should be allocated and in the existing draft it is not; the process of protection of patients’ rights should be more detailed, with clear obligations and responsibilities of the participants in this process. Panel was organised by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network – BIRN Serbia.
